Advanced Professional Training

Education

Veterinarians in Rwanda are trained through a degree program at the University of Rwanda in Nyagatare. Opportunities to qualify as Veterinary Technicians (Paravets) are available at several schools across the country. Despite significant progress in recent decades, there remains a strong need for postgraduate training and continued improvement of professional qualifications, even after graduation. This ongoing development is supported and made possible by VetPro.

Continuing Education

From the very beginning, the NVVH and the members of the VetPro Association have continuously supported and facilitated the postgraduate training of veterinarians and paravets. Team members from Rwanda have been and continue to be invited to Austria, where they receive education and hands-on training at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna and in numerous Austrian clinics, practices, and laboratories. With the support of the Rwandan Council of Veterinary Doctors (RCDV) and the veterinary universities of Rwanda (UR) and Vienna (VMU Vienna), a postgraduate training program - including Continuing Education (CE), internships, seminars, and practical trainings - has been established through NVVH. These activities are open not only to NVVH staff but also to all students and graduates of veterinary medicine in Rwanda. To date, numerous seminars and training sessions have been held.
