New Vision veterinary hospital

New Vision veterinary hospital

Our Story

The New Vision Veterinary Hospital (NVVH) in Rwanda was officially inaugurated in 2016 in the Musanze District. Funding was provided by a foundation dedicated to animal welfare. The initiative originated from Rwandan veterinarians who drew the attention of their Austrian colleagues to the challenging working conditions of the veterinary profession in their country. Through the activities of NVVH, it has become possible to establish veterinary medicine of the highest standard across Rwanda — both in curative practice and laboratory diagnostics, as well as in the education and training of local veterinarians and support staff. VetPro continues to support the ongoing development of NVVH and the professional growth of the Rwandan veterinarians working there.

Rwanda

Rwanda is an East African country located near the equator with a very high population density. Although the economy has grown significantly in recent years, around 60% of the population still lives below the poverty line. Approximately 93% of Rwandans live in rural areas, with about 90% engaged in subsistence farming. Veterinary education is offered at the University of Rwanda in Nyagatare, as well as at other schools in the country that train veterinary technicians (paravets). Despite these institutions, there remains a strong need to further improve professional qualifications in the veterinary field.

Locations

The New Vision Veterinary Hospital (NVVH) was planned in 2015 and inaugurated in 2016, initially operating from a single location in Musanze (Ruhengeri) in the northwest of the country. Since 2018, a second branch has been established in the capital, Kigali. While the Musanze clinic covers large animal, poultry, and small animal medicine and includes a high-quality laboratory, the Kigali clinic focuses on small animal medicine at the highest level. Both clinics are equipped with dedicated training facilities.
